World first: The multimedia system of the Porsche 918 Spyder was written in HTML. The connection of the car to be easily connected to the Internet.
Porsche has unveiled an operating concept is the first manufacturer in the world, which was written entirely in HTML5. HTML is the universal programming language for web pages and is mainly used to structure the display of content.
Porsche offers the system in the first 918 Spyder that refers to the IAA will be presented in September 2013. The sports car manufacturer sees advantages in the speed of the multimedia development.
Until now user interfaces are elaborately drawn by designers in the future they can be relatively easy to program. In addition, HTML facilitates the connection of the car to the Internet, a smartphone apps can be easily integrated into the car.
The system will offer a number of advantages over traditional infotainment systems including better smartphone integration and improved internet access. The system's interface is also easier to design as it's built around HTML instead of a proprietary system.
Little else is known about the system but a QNX Porsche 911 concept was introduced at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. It featured a number of interesting features including a reconfigurable digital instrument cluster, "ultra HD voice technology" and one-touch Bluetooth smartphone pairing via Near Field Communications (NFC).
