993 Chassis Legs Repair

One common area of corrosion on the Porsche 911 993 is on the chassis legs, under the rear quarter panels. Hidden behind the exhaust heat shields, and bolted to the chassis are two lateral steel plates to support the rear bumpers. During the build process, these plates were attached before painting, and the 993 is now prone to corrosion behind these plates.

In many cases the rust is only on the surface, but left unchecked it can corrode right through.

Due to the age of these vehicles and the number affected that we see during regular checks, this is now a job that all 993 owners should be aware of.
