I don't think there is anything nicer than the early shape. No idea how they drive but absolutely beautiful to look at.

Dream cars.

If you like the early ones be sure to get yourself down to the 'Classics at the Castle' at Castle Hedingham, Essex in September, it's specifically for pre '73. We go every year and it's stunning, the purity of the early cars is beautiful. I bet they're not so great to drive but I could stare at them all day!

:? You "can't afford it" :?:

From reading many of your previous posts* I'm sure that you could afford to buy one if you chose to.

Personally I see any car of that era as a beautiful ornament or as a piece of art in the same way as many behold things such as paintings, sculptures and watches. I'd pay a lot more for an old 911 than any of the other things that I've mentioned but that's not relevant because I can't afford it.

I can never see why people don't fulfil their dreams as soon as their circumstances allow them to. I was reading the other day that Michael MacIntyre has always dreamed of owning a Ferrari but still doesn't. I'm certain that I'd only need a fraction of his millions to buy one but then I'd probably not bother buying a £3.5M house.

Go on, go for it .......... it might even prove to be an investment. :thumb:

How do they drive? Awful :nooo: I had a 1969 911T and in the wet it was terrible.

I'd have to have a PS edition based on a decent (964) chassis :thumb:

Zingari,

Interesting to hear that the t was awful in the wet. I really need to have a drive and get a feel for the cars. I have driven a couple of 912's which was a whole other ball game.

Currently looking at importing a 912 as a project car to sort and restore cosmetically and hopefully add some value and learn the ins and outs along the way.

Check out DDK, excellent site. Forum members very helpful similar to 911uk. Even post up the advert, someone will likely respond with advice, what to look for maybe even some knowledge of the car.

I've got @£35k to spunk away and cannot decide on a 1970s 911 or a 964 or 993 (again)....I can't sleep at nights.

Tough call. Ask yourself this can you put up with basic driving assistance - No PAS, AC, poor heat/ventilation twitchy (antique) handling in the wet and a sorted one has you checking the weather forecast before you decide to take it out :hand: These are cars for purists.

I've seen a few early 911 at ~£15k which leaves plenty to then restore and whilst you are likely to get your money back it will spend most of its life in the garage under a cover.

It's cycle of use sounds a bit like my 993 which prompted me to sell it, and then I go out and buy a 964. Go figure :?

You've had a 993 before so why another? 964 gives you the more authentic shape with some creature comforts :pc:

Would you not think about a back dated 3.2 , here is a 1987 car backdated to 911s / i think the back dated cars look so much better than the original 70s cars as you get more width at the back , isn't this a lovely car .
Heres a link to the site were you can see much more about them . Keith
