Well decided to have a prod round the bubbles at the weekend corner of the windscreens no real surprise will get the wings off the next couple of weeks to see what lurks underneath. the rear quarter has had a bodge and fill but actually was not quite as bad as I expexted as in wasn`t as far up the rear quarter as I had expected (like Clinchy`s) so looks like cut the bit on the sill and take a cut across the quarter.

could be a few nights in the mancave this winter.

Sleep with the program producer :dont know:

Made a bit of progress today stripping the front end and had a good look round,I suspect it has had both front wings replaced at some point both have certainly been off previously, the oil cooler and front aluminium bumper have also been replaced have tonbridge opc stickers still attached so looks as though it has maybe had a front end tap at some point. The tub is spot on with no sign of damage so all pretty good really some overspray here and there from some of the countless bits of paint it has had.

Made a start on removing the wing/fender all pretty straightforward other than a couple of retaining bolts behind the AC plumbing which I think I can probably get, or should I pull the ac drier etc ?

Gary if the front wings have never been off the car there will be a small spot weld in the area of the windscreen scuttle panel and the top of the wing under that little rubber strip and the wing will not come off with this intact
You can see it to the right of the bolt
I just used a sharp chisel and tapped it off

Thanks for that Clinchy I was aware of these welds and none there, pretty sure both wings have been replaced at sometime a heap of waxoil has been sprayed along the inner edges and wing tape is keeking under the seam.

good news is the wings are in perfect condition

Good news on the wings being mint!! Think there about £600 each new.

This is why my bubble was there as you can see in the metal the tin worm has set in and this was repaired by a opc bodyshop around 5 yrs ago!! With a lifetime guarantee.....Mmmmmm

If you look close you can see where they have put weld in to try and fill the holes to fill I'm up!!

Nice....

Steve made me a new one and fabricated it in so no more tin worm....yippe

Pretty pish attempt at a repair welding up rusty holes , surgery is the only solution I have the same issue on one side, what you doing with your paint blending it in or do you have to do the whole quarter ?

I've a few bits on the door that need doing so going to go down the whole side as its metallic so the colour match will be ok....it's going to be all done one day!!

Must have been the same bodyshop Sram used :floor:
-ooops, sorry Sram :boxin:

I think that big OPC sign above the door doesn't mean to much in today's world unfortunately....heard good things about byfleet :thumb:

Sorry for the hi jack Gaz... Lets see them pics of your current labour!!

No progress this weekend to busy with electrics and relaying all the glass wool on the extension ,murder, also wedding anniversary so priority to the team leader. and just when I would rather spend on the 964 the bloody lights on the wifes ML have went all wonky some active module thingy went tits up

Small bit of progress today got the passenger wing off had hoped to get the AC lines out the way making it easier to get to the bolts at the inside/top of the wing but nuts under the sill were seized solid so a bit of fiddling to get the bolts out. contemplating removing the AC altogether not a huge requirement for Scottish summers

Good news is the inner wing is spot on with the rust localised to the corner of the windscreen.
