Well known for its involvement in competitions and car preparation, Albert Motorsport, the Oberhausen-based Porsche specialist has unveiled its latest project, the 911 GT2 R Flat.

Looking a little like a squashed 911 GT3 R, this animal actually began life as humble Porsche 996 model – before the guys took an angle grinder to its pillars. The roof chop gives it a look reminiscent of 9ff's crazy GT9-CS, while the addition of 997.2 lights helps to create a modern appearance. The facelift panels are constructed from lightweight fibreglass as is the roof section.

Inside the car there's an extensive roll cage along with a charge cooler which feeds cold air to the twin-turbocharged flat six engine.

The 911 GT2 R Flat will be making its début at the Zandvoort Circuit, to take part in the four-hour race. If you can't make it there you can always browse through Albert Motorsport's 209 photos following its build.

That's lovely.

Is that the 'air conditioning' seen in the cockpit, the silver hosing? Cold air feed? haha

Love those rear arches.

I really like it, in a cartoon car sort of way. I know some guys at work who aren't over 5 foot tall, the extra headroom in normal cars is just wasted on them anyway.

Looks awful to me, I'd rather have the blue 997 turbo from the 'horror' thread...! :nooo:

I love threads like this, the 997 turbo one, the Ruf supercharged one, and the hideous 993 with the wood interior. It's amazing how massively different peoples opinions can be. At least I can see a point to this mod, it will slip the air better with a lower roofline.
In fact, there is probably somebody out there who hates these threads just as much as I love them, which will prove my point.

Absolutely, it's great that everyone is different! :thumb:

But we're all still agreed about Moonshine's black 19" alloys, right...?

Begs the question why??
Only for short people too!!

Because its a racing car.. and lower roof = less aerodynamic drag.. like a group C.. and cosmetics dont come into racing cars

Daytona prototypes etc are not pretty but they are fast

That looks amazing and should have been what the 991 looked like (although to fair to the 991, the shoulder line and glasshouse ratio are close).

:worship:

And we chorus "Yes, we're all individuals".
