First post so go easy guys!

looking at entering porsche ownership. C4S is what im looking at.
seen one i love, right in soo many ways......problem......
7 Previous owner :?
its a 2003 car with 58k. one owner every year sounds alot to me.

Should i be worried?

Thanks in advance

HoocH

It's all about condition.

A few owners is not uncommon.

Just think of it as seven honeymoons (and pre or post prep and TLC, possibly even seven warranties), rather than a gang-bang.

Yep, check for any signs of a porsche prolapse!

Seven great owners better than one crap one...

thats a far more positive responce than i expected.

How would it affect resale value? if at all!?

Also GT4, i see your from herts. Im from beds. Can you recommend someone to inspect the bores for me please!?

Thanks

That's quite difficult to answer. You are obviously concerned about the number of owners now, so it stands to reason prospective buyers will feel the same when you come to sell. If the car has a solid history and stands up to scrutiny then it really shouldn't affect the price, but it would be naive to think it has no effect at all.

If you are looking for a discount on this car compared to a virtually identical car with fewer owners, then expect the same proportional reduction at the other end...

very fair comment. Thank you.

Back to your first reply chimp, what are you refering to as a porsche prolapse?

... oh. dear.

Sorry, don't know anyone to look in your bores (which is ironic as I have a boroscope, but it's a complete bastard to get to them and in any case I am not familiar enough to say what I could see is good or bad - unless I spy a piston crown floating around)

Sorry, the prolapse was a referential nod to the earlier gang bang comment i.e. if the car has been well and truly buggered then it's a**e will have fallen out...

Porsche have (in my opinion) a well deserved reputation for building bulletproof cars and this stands up when you consider how successful they have been in the JD power surveys in the past. Unfortunately, like any other car they can be susceptible to abuse or neglect, and when we are talking about a finely tuned sportscar then if things do go wrong then it can be pretty expensive to put right.

It pays to have it checked it out thoroughly, make sure it has a complete history and had the proper maintenance so you know whether you've a peach or a lemmon on your hands. Once you find the right one then I've no doubt you'll have many wonderful years with one of the greatest cars money can buy :)

Well, I was interested to see how you fielded that one, but I wasn't expecting quite such a blunt definition

Yeah, the analogy was perhaps a bit too graphic, maybe I should lay off the warsteiner

i did raise an eyebrow when i first saw 'prolapse' but thought i was missing out an an everyday porsche term.....
How very wrong was I!

The service history seem to be upto date but only one or 2 services were with genuine porsche dealer. The rest were with a selection of different specialists up and down the country.

One thing i noticed was there seemed to be one service out of line/not in order. This maybe due to some one writing it in the wrong slot or maybe someone missing a service and having the book, 'wrongly updated' shall we say.

Ive photos of all pages of the service book. I can post pics if anyone wanted to have a nosey and let me know that would be great.

Ill upload them now :D

Thanks guys

it the 911 sport one that i thinks out of place

I'm hardly a forensic scientist but it looks as though the poor chap at 911 sport may have turned the page to add his service stamp on page 18 rather than use the top right hand column on page 17. Then the next 3 servicers have used the remaining spaces? No such chance of a mistake with the brake fluid change, hence the apparent inconsistency?

I'd wait for a better opinion than mine, but I think that it looks ok...

As above.

As the brake fluid is correctly located between other maintenance, it just looks like they used the next free slot working down the page (not realising the two columns).

It was probably just a slip of the pen/stamp, but one can only hope they knew their way around the engine better than the service book!

Would you say its been sufficiantly serviced!? Recently had coil packs, diff seals, front discs and pads, water pump and a few other bits and bobs.
Sorry for my amatuer questions[/img]
