Hi

Does anyone have experiences with Romans of St Albans? They are fairly local to me so I am going down tomorrow to see what their Porsches are like. They seem to have some history in prestige cars but I'm not sure if you could call them specialists....

If anyone has any info it would be appreciated....especially regarding their warranties.

Also any thoughts on this car? Slightly high mileage, but any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi Sarlim, that car looks like a very nice spec. It doesn't have dual-zone climate control tho' as no 997 does. I've seen that Roman's sell at the top end of the market and you are getting a 1 year warranty too - make sure it covers engine and gearbox and see what the maximum limit is per claim. If it's, say, £10k approx, then I'd say you are fine. Enjoy any test drive you undertake.

Thanks Maxie - ill check the warranty.

What about price/age? I am hoping to source a c2s around 2006 vintage for £30k. Id prefer to buy from a respected dealer with warranty rather than private as i know nothing about cars! Is my budget likely to get me a result?

A C2S for about £30k is possible but guess it will be high mileage, ie. above 50k. You might be able to pick up a lower mileage one from a private seller. If you see a private seller selling one with a remaining OPC warranty then also consider that too.

As a caution, also check the service booklet and ensure the services have been carried out on time by OPCs or well respected Porsche specialists - the latter are sometimes are better than the OPCs. Also, it appears that the more oil changes for the car, the better.

You also talk about a C2S but your advert shows a car for a 4S. You may want to drive both and see what yu prefer. If you do a Google search on the variants then this may also help you to make up your mind too.

Happy hunting!

I have a 25000 miles C4S due in,
new engine last year, so still with 12 months warranty,
sports seats,
sunroof
nav,
phone
rear wiper and park assist,
sport design alloys
Crested head rests,
silver with grey leather
same age but a little dearer than theirs but almost half the mileage,

As you mentioned the car in the advert was a 4s rather than 2s. I have no preference really although perhaps the 4WD would be better for me in the cold/snowy months to come. I'm guessing a 4s would be higher Insurance though right?

The 1 year warranty does include engine/clutch and is not limited to miles (although i'm unlikely to do 10k in a year anyway), so it looks pretty good.

Just chewing over the fat now before I decide! Still can't believe I may actually own a 911 soon!

Thanks for your help

I do like the sound of your car (and your reputation seems to be 2nd to none on this forum!) however I'm really after Black or Atlas Grey.

Sarllm, you're very welcome to the advice :) However, Mark's cars are considered top-notch and if you asked him to source you a black or atlas grey one, I am sure he will be able to do this for you.

I would still test drive a 4wd against a 2wd, tho'. I think Insurance costs are identical - I can't vouch for driving a 911 4wd in the snow yet because I haven't tried mine but from what others have said on the forum, I don't think they are very good unless you have the winter tyres fitted.
