Whats up with the dash. Looks like its been parked at the seaside and left with the windows down to get that rust in there.

But if you were handy with a spanner and happy to throw some money at it, it could be a good project for someone. Agree siliver looks good in the 930.

Why do people buy 930 's then spend no money on them.

You have one of these, you have running cost each year even if you drive less then 3000 a year trust me on that.

These cars have to be looked after, otherwise they become a money pit.

Then sooner or later an owner will face some big bills.

Sorry for my ignorance but want to learn this one.

What era was the 930 Turbo? Is it of the same era of the 911 SC or the 3.2 Carrera? The name also sometimes gets bounded around where the 964 Turbo is concerened (although I'm sure this is wrong)? :dont know:

Can anyone provide any details on spec of the 930 :?:
Cheers

I`m not an expert and I`m sure a quick google would give you the right answer, but I think the 930 came out about 1977 and went through to 1989. It was a 4 speed up until 1989 when a 5 speed box came out.

Then in 1991 the 964 3.3 turbo was released with a revised 930 3.3 engine.

Then in 93 the 964 3.6 turbo was relased.

You are about right Olly except I think it came out in 1974/5 as opposed to 1977. It was available at the same time as the 3.2 and SC. It was a 3 litre at launch until about 1978 when it moved up to a 3.3. Production stopped in 1989 at which point they had upgraded to the 5 speed G50 gearbox and also launched a few special editions, the SE and the flatnose.

Great thanks
So what size engine did the 77-89 930 have, a 3.0 or 3.3?
Also, could the 964 T 3.3 be called a 930? Same question to the 3.6 T?
Sorry for all the questions
Cheers :thumb:

Answer to the engine size in my post above ^

No, the 964 Turbo is not referred to as a 930.

The 964 Turbo came in two flavours, initiallay as a 3.3 and then towards the end of its life, as a 3.6.

Note that all 930 and 964 turbos are single turbo cars. The 993, 996 and 997 are twin turbo cars

No, Spy is right when saying they are totally different cars.

It was a big step up (depending whcih way you look at it) when Porsche moved from the 930 to the 964 turbo. Power steering, better suspension and handling, better a/c.

The 964 3.6T is essentially exactly the same as the 964 3.3 turbo but Porsche had more time to tweak the 3.6 Na motor and turbo it. The 3.6 is more expensive than the 3.3 due its rarity but both the 930, 964 3.3T and the 964 3.6T all all very rare cars by todays standards.

Both are lovely cars :thumb:

Cheers guys....Now I know :thumb:
