Sorry for being a bit thick here but what exactly are these option codes that are published. What is the purpose of them?
I have a 1989 930 and am anxious always to learn more about this model but not sure what these "codes" are all about. :?

The option codes are just a short-hand designation for the optional extras which could be ordered with your car when it was built at the factory. Generally consist of the letter "M" followed by a 3-digit number.
