Hello all, this is my first post here and I would like your assistance and valuable advice so i can (hopefully) purchase this 3.3L turbo dream car!
Some of these questions may sound naive to you but i am completely new to everything vintage Porsche, seeing as I have been a keen VW/Porsche fan for a very long time now and have been into restoring old VW's at present.
I have recently been to a classic cars and antiques show here in Cyprus and have found a 1984 3.3L turbo originally imported from the UK approx. 5 years ago.
I have been in touch with the current owner and got some information I would like to verify (please see attached pictures in next post):
1. What are the likely faults to look out for on a 3.3L turbo? I have heard horror stories about the turbo cracking or oil leaks and so on. Are those isolated cases of engine abuse or simply not far from the truth?
2a. This particular example has 'RUF' exhausts, though i cannot find any on the internet - is that true or?
2b. It also has, according to the owner, original GT2 wheels (don't know which one? 993 or was there a 964 as well?) which apparently cost £1000 each? Do these look genuine?
3. The car has been sitting around for around 3 years since the owner has a 993 as well. Are there issues to look out for? I have not heard the car running nor driven it, simply saw it at the show. I have no info on the mileage of the car either.
4. It has had a full repaint, engine reconditioning in 1999 (in UK) and a new leather interior added. As far as i know the interior is tip-top, and the owner also has the original air-conditioning unit (much needed in Cyprus) although currently not installed.
5. Finally, the asking price: €30.000 on the road. How reasonable is that considering the above?
Thank you very much for considering all this hope you can help!!
NB. Pictures in next post!
