40k on a GT3, which one would you choose?

Hypothetically ofcourse. I'm just speculating and saw these advertised. Which 1 would you go for?

The MKI is slightly over priced and the MKII looks a good buy, money wise that is.

Would you be buying it to drive it or to put it in the garage, polish it & worry about residual values :?:

If the former I would go for the mk2 left hooker. Most of your miles will be either on a track or on the way to the Nurburgring anyway!

The red MKII Stuart, all day long.

Those Motons are circa £7.5K fitted and are absolutely the muts nuts. The suspension is the first thing to go on these cars & 40K miles is when it happens. I see it has PF's fitted so it should be good to go straight on track.

MKI is very nice but will be getting to the point where you'll have to spend a bit with Chris to sort the suspension & worn bushes.

The left-hooker is a comfort and so is unsuitable for serious track work without a cage & harnesses. You'd also want to change out the ceramics for PF's & that'll cost £2K.

Also it may be a bit a slow mover when you come to sell on.

didn't notice the left hooker was a comfort :paperbag:

I'd agree on the red mk2...

Not the wrong hand drive one

Prob the Mk2...

Red Mk11, out of those

As said the Motons arent cheap and its a late car as well

Let's say the condition of each car is the same (bodywork).

I would be going for the MK1.

I know I have one and it's all the 'MK1 is original' crap ! But they are getting rare, and not only this I love the look of the MK1 to the MK2.

If I did not love the MK1 as much, it would be down to the 'buy on condition' message.

You just thinking Stuart ????? :hand:

Obviously the MKI is the better looking and rarer, especially as it's a true clubsport. It does have history hence I know it's overpriced, it's been for sale for around 6months already...

The MKII ticks all the boxes but is a comfort with all the best track mods already added. Plus it's from a well respected and knowledgeable dealer.

The LHD states 'RS suspension'??? Potentially this is a good buy, it would only take cage, seats and harness to be comparable to the red MKII?

Here's something else to throw in the mix...

£32,995

2 Doors, Manual, Coupe, Petrol, 23,400 miles, Metallic Grey, MOT-05-2011. Insurance Group:20, Porsche Reading and Guildford service history from new and will be serviced prior to sale, stunning dark grey metallic with totally unmarked black and silver Porsche carbon fibre sports seats, totally unmarked alloys with very good tyres all round, climate control, remote central locking alarm with all spare keys x3, electric windows and mirrors, cd stereo, cruise control, this car has had very minor damage and is on catt d, we have all the invoices and pictures before repair was carried out, when you see the pictures you will not believe how minor the work was, should never have gone on the register, i have sold cars for over 20 years and this car is in seriously good condition, drives and runs perfect.

Cat D wouldn't bother me if the repair was good and the price was right. If it's a track car then actually that's a good thing as it can't be cat D'd twice!

Not that it matters of course

But it most certainly can be declared Cat D more than once

what I meant was that it probably only affect the value once.

Mmm, RS suspension doesn't mean a lot without knowing if that includes the front hub carriers, which is one of the main differences. Why has it got RS suspension? Was it crashed into a roundabout & that's what was available s/h? I'd still go for the Moton equipped car as the suspension is way more sophisticated than anything that the factory provided on a 996.

The brakes won't last too long if you track it so you will be into expense there also.

I'd be buying the MK1 - Guards Red, Clubsport, what's not to like?

I can appreciate how good the MK2 is technically, but the looks of the MK1 would win it for me, somehow looks a more 'resolved' design, plus rare as hell these days.
