Seen that red one before on RL. Absolutely gorgeous.

So is the silver one, but it could do without that hoop spoiler.

It certainly inspired me with my project!

one practicality question: where does the body-colour speedster cab-roof-cover thing go when you need to put the roof up???

had this problem with an MX5 speedster roof cover: realised it would not fit anywhere if i had to put the roof up so never fitted it: they made a 2-part one instead which fitted in the boot, but the 993 one looks like my old mx5 job - a garage or on the car item only...

The 'hump' is attached with pantograph hinge arrangement and stays on the car; it forms part of hood retaining mechanism. When the hood is down, the hump conceals the roof and vice versa.

Where does one buy these humps? are they the 964/930 ones and do they need modifications?

The composite hump is still available to buy direct from Porsche at a price! - the 3.2 & 964 vary very subtly. But it's not just the hump you need. There's the internal framework, the hood frame and canvas, the windscreen & surround - different doors (without quarter lights) and extra re-inforcing. The A posts, bulkhead top are all re-inforced as the screen bolts on - all the metal work is still available from Porsche - and carries the original date of production - 1994!
Porsche originally planned a run of 2000+ cars, but stopped the 964 short - less than a thousand, so leaving a number of parts 'on the shelf'.
Most of the cars went to the USA resulting in specialist breakers over there who will sell you the hard to get parts as a package.
Then you need to find suitable base car, a competant bodyshop well versed in re-building Porsches and off you go!!!!

Watching that one closely. The idea is extremely tempting, can't wait to see the end result :thumb:

Will you post on here Graham?

If people are interested - I can do regular updates, and post some pictures. I've taken about 300 so far!
