2009 Carrera 2 Gen2:

Am I missing anything?

The first two years should be devoid of servicing costs, as these cars have a 24 month/20,000 mile service interval.

Fuel consumption seems to be averaging 20mpg on short runs, 25-30 on longer Motorway journeys.

Road tax £215pa and Insurance £550 Fully comp via Meerkat (Actually Admiral)

Two years warranty obviously, and lets say a pair of tyres at 10,000 for good luck...

Sounds too good to be true! Anybody want to blow my cosy theories away?

Enjoying the beast so far, although PASM in sport mode is ridiculously hard, it's pretty good in normal mode, the rest is great!

Ah, methinks she'll be gone by then!

I bought it to sell next year in fairness. Obviously if I'm still smitten, I'll keep her, which is a possibility.

I gather month 25 brings a £470 service, probable £400 brake pads, £1200 Warranty and so on.....

is the roadtax not £400+ or have they slashed emissions or something on new models?? Mine is!!

Road tax more like £405 per annum.

Mine didn't need brakes etc at 2 years, just a service and new warranty. 16,500 miles in and front tyres still original. Rear's were replaced at 13,000 miles at first service.

VED rates:

K band = 201-225 g/KM CO2 = £215 (2009/10) = £245 (2010/11)

There was a big (well apparently not!) hoo-ha when Porsche released the Gen 2s about how the basic C2 with DFI had managed 225 g/KM CO2 and hence scrape back under 226 g/KM CO2 giving VED of only £215 road tax (and a relatively nice BiK)
