I have found the perfect car that im after. Its from a Private seller tho. Its an '07' plate and was just serviced last week (also hpi clear). How and do i get it checked before i hand over the cash? are there people who come out and check cars before you buy or do you think the fact that its still in warranty (how much does that cover?) and has just been serviced enough to know i wont get stung somewhere.
PLEASE HELP!
p.s. its on 20,000 on the clock!

From what I've been reading here it's best to have OPC warranty. So if it does not, have the current owner get it and transfer it to you.

sorry what OPC?

not to sure what PPI is either

OPC is your Porsche dealership

PPI is an inspection by a Porsche specialist technician who does this for a living. Cost c.£3-400, saving you potentially thousands either in negotiation against work required or cost if you buy and the work is needed. Peter Morgan gets everyones vote on here. Don't get an RAC inspection as they only kick tyres without specialist knowledge.

Ask more questions and you'll get all the advice you need from more than just me.

with a new'ish car a 111 OPC point check should suffice

At 20k miles it should have had a minor service. Get the report for the service and go through it. I also expect a tyre change etc.....Just make sure none of the paper work is missing
As for the check then the recommendation from the forum is correct to have it checked.
Keep us update :thumb:

Sundeep, I relied on the 111 point check and the fact the car was 1 year old so still under manufacturers warranty. Don't know if this is a positive or not but was a managers car from Porsche Reading. Not a single problem, other than a loose screw in the driver door panel and loose side repeaters so very happy so far.

Still, at the back of my mind is I trusted the dealer and my own eyes. When you are spending the money I did then I really should have practised what I now preech and got an inspection done. Nobody else is going to look after my interests :nooo:
