The Sportec SP550mc arrived at the Geneva Motor Show with one aim in mind; showing the world that power does not necessarily equate to eco enemy.

Although no specific figures are mentioned, Sportec says the car puffs out "significantly reduced CO2 emissions" in spite of power increases and better performance than the factory Porsche 911 Turbo.

How this was done was by employing a CNG conversion kit which means the car can run on either petrol or natural gas at the switch of a button. Natural gas is recognised as being cleaner and more eco-friendly than oil-based fuels.

Maximum power from the 3.6-litre biturbo is 550hp (410kW) while torque stands at 705Nm. It is said to go from naught to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds. The 0 - 200km/h run is covered in 11 seconds and top velocity is 331km/h (206mph).

The turbochargers work with a special filter that has an optimised flow rate which ensures adequate air intake for the engine. The sports exhaust system has high-capacity catalytic converters. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres that are fitted to the wheels are claimed to offer 19% less rolling resistance than competitors, thus contributing significantly to the SP 550mc's fuel-saving efforts and by extension its C02 emissions.

Aerodynamics play an important role in the saving of fuel. Sportec recognised this and installed unobtrusive side skirts, an aerodynamically optimised front spoiler, a corresponding three-part apron and a large rear wing spoiler.

:?:

guess they need to have something to set it off against the Sportec SPR T80.

The T80 builds upon the performance of the SPR1 range by increasing the power of its bi-turbo, 3.6-litre, 24-valve, flat six T80M engine to a staggering 858 bhp, which, when combined with the benefits of permanent four wheel drive, creates a benchmark blend of poise and performance.

:worship:

Power 858 bhp / 640 KW @ 8200 rpm
Torque 870 Nm / 642 ft lbs @ 4800 rpm
BHP/Liter 238 bhp / liter
Power to weight 0.64 bhp / kg
Top Speed 380 km/h / 236 mph
0-60 mph 2.9 s
