You are truly welcomed!! Looks great in black, and I too love cleaning the car but not enough devotion to keep a black one clean.

Can't beat a Black 911..

Nice car - :worship:

welcome :bye:

i know the feeling about compulsive cleaning, think it gets better with time! other half doesn't understand either :dont know:

nice looking motor by the way :thumb:

Yes I love it in black, :) it does show everything though. I have just zymoled it, starting with a clay bar and then a cleaner and then an expensive wax they do for black cars (took all day). I had hoped that the claying would have taken a lot of the swirls and minor surface scratches out, but alas no they are still there. It did make the paint smooth but did not do all that it said on the tin. That or I need to put more effort in.

So far I am very happy with it and still scared of her. I know what she is capable of but it is the corners that I must build up to as i still cannot get it out of my head, that i will be going backwards through a hedge. I am aware that these 997s are a country mile ahead of the rest and I just need a confidence pill. I must attend a meet and follow someone who can drive these things properly. Having a new engine fitted just before I picked her up, I am nurturing her. This is to be a long term relationship and reading this forum I dont want to damage an early engine.

What is the recommended run in on these anyway?

 Welcome Sidlo.....a black 997 is truly stunning. You can't beat the rear haunches of this car (unless you have a 993).

Thanks Maxie, I feel accepted now. I agree with your comment on the 993 as I have had a picture of a yellow 993 turbo S (for over a year now)which I set as a desk top background from the American E Bay site. Trully a dream car that and it was in showroom condition, will try and include pic with this.

Lovely car congrats :thumb:

Ref claying it wont take out swirls so dont try harder!! It only takes off surface contaminants like bugs, sap, road tar, bird droppings, basically anything that shouldnt be 'on' the paint. So if its silky smooth sounds like you've done a top job. :thumb:

Worth taking time to read a few detailing threads if you enjoy cleaning and you can't beat having the Elite treatment, trust me!

Short term if you would like to remove some light marks try AG Super Resin Polish using lots of brand new (v important) microfibre cloths...after a few weeks when your Zymol has started to wear off. Take great care near seals/rubber etc as the chalky residue will show badly on black. Any grit on a cloth/washmitt is your worst enemy, follow the Elite wash guide and you'll save yourself heartache.

Managed to dig out a few pics of our holiday to Switzerland last July, just after we got the car.

Was a good test as covered almost 3500 miles all in, with no probs.
