Another question...but i guess this is one of the the benefits of joining up..

Whats the view on buying a new car originally sourced through autobahn / bramleys etc where i think they are imports but full c16 spec, i assume that they attract full Porsche warranty and you need to build a relationship with an OPC to get good service but they are obliged to service anyway - I assume that the used value of these cars should be pro rata with the original price paid and i assume that opc's will frown on them as they are taking their sales away and will bad mouth and discourage any purchase but for no rationale reason??

Finally are there any issues with getting the porsche extended warranty/

Thanks again in anticipation of response..

The main drawback is if the cars 18 months old a main dealer wont want to buy it for stock because its an import

as the car gets older in my opnion it doesnt really matter much,

take 2 cars 4 years old 911, black, 12,000 miles, sat nav, sport design alloys, sunroof, sports exhaust, cyprus c98 import

4 years old silver, 25,000 miles, no nav, no sunroof, c16 uk supplied car

which would you rather have?

Some dealers will try and buy an import for a lower figure just because its another reason to pay a little less for a car.

But if you buy an import new it will be hard to sell if its 9/18 months old as the main dealers wont buy it and theres less specialist who buy nearly new cars as they're then competing with OPC's

Thanks Mark, inclined to agree with you regarding the longer (4 year) picture..do you agree with my assumptions regarding warranty/servicing and extended warranty ie no difference and work which the OPC need to accept as normal business? also do you think its reasonable to offer corresponding lower prices for these cars given the initial lower cost?

Steve

The service guys dont care in my experience, the sales guys might turn their noses
But the servie dept is there to service cars.
I ve put warranties on C98 cars no problem at all

2nd boxster i ever bought was a C98 2.7 4,000 miles, 5years old
The trader i bought it from offered it to 3 OPC's i noffered him a trade profit on hios purchase price all the OPC's offered him what he bought for it
this was 5 pm on a friday,
i collected it on monday and they had all rung him and offered him his asking price

OK the market was different 5 years ago, but if the car fits your requirements in terms of spec mileage dont worry about the import status,,

BUT be ware if you buy a new c98 car you will suffer when its nearly new

Mark,

Indeed makes sense re the service dept, its business to them irrespective -

Hear what you say re younger car -

Thanks

Steve
