Hi all,

I'm looking at buying my first Porsche and one of the dealers with some cars that fit my criteria is Finlay Gorham in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Seeing as he is also fairly local to me, I was wondering if anybody had any previous experiences dealing with this dealer positive or negative.

Thanks,

Paul

Joff Ward is the Owner of Finlay Gorham
Used to be based in henley on thames

Been selling porsches for well over 25 years,
Knows his product and his cars,
Probably one of the longest established specialists in england
Most of his cars are main dealer part exchanges, sensibly priced, as ever get it inspected before you buy it and you wont go far wrong

Mark - wasnt the owner of FG killed a few years ago in a road accident?

Was it Joffs partner?

Cant remember, old age is creeping up on me.

anyway FG had a v god rep when based in HoT (my old stomping ground)so buying a car from them should be fine.

Thanks for the replies, the help and information is much appreciated.

Mike Ticehurst, used to work for Joff at Finlay Gorham
Mike also traded in his own name in H o T, and worked for Andrew Jarvis in H o T
Mike was killed in a car accident on his way to pick his kids up school i believe a few years back

Finlay Gorham is not a specialist

Finlay Gorham is one of the worst Porsche specialist
Cars are not guaranteed and cars sleep outside near a farm !! Go away !!
A friend have bought in this old farm and he has a lot of bad surprises on this car. Air conditioning, lights, mileage ....
Cars are just clean outside and thats all.
There are a lot of other good specialists but not this one.
They try to sell Porsches with a blond hair girl to give more chance to conclude the sell...

Bye

I met him some time back and he seemed very fair, a good friend bought from him with no problems and ran the boxster he bought for years, i would buy from him. Mike

I bought from Joff a few years ago, I had no issue with the purchase and the car has been trouble free over the past 3 yrs. His servicing is limited and bit on the pricey side so whilst competent would consider others for servicing. Like all Porsche purchases by on condition and with a clear head.

Im very disappointed by Finlay Gorham

Hello
im total agree with John, Finlay Gorham farm doesn't sell quality cars (no guarantee), cars sleep outside and prices are very expensive. I prefer to trust Private seller than a farm ahahahah
It's not a Porsche specialist, they sell other brands but it's just nightmare. There are a lot of independants sellers better than this one.

Go away !

2 posts from 2 new people in the same style, both slating an established Porsche seller?

Seems odd...

Looks like the same badly written English from the same individual IMO

Someone with a grudge :?:

I bought the 993 of F/G, as Mark Sterling knows I found him atrocious and ignorant. The 996tt was purchased from Silverstone, the bloke Mark Lewis could not do enough for me, I still owe him and Christmas is coming. OPC up here in Aberdeen cannot do enough for me and have even fitted things like number plates free for me. Having had around 8 Porsches various BMW's and Lexus F/G are easily bottom of the list. If you buy from him as Mark says get the car inspected and don't use his mates down the road who are in bed with him for all his work. :thumb:

Hello
Seem to be serious mixed messages here. Do not think it wise for dealers like Sterlings to pass comments on fellow dealers as the negative comments from some forum members above could give the wrong impression as to their own hard won and deserved reputation. As members have said on many occasions buy on condition and get it inspected before considering an offer/purchase.

Chris
