Wheel Spacers - Whats the point?

Hi, I'm strangely attracted to wheel spacers, but what is the point of them?

Is it purely for the look? Do they make the tires look fatter?

Whats the best size to go for? Design911 have them available from 15mm right up to 75mm!

Do you buy the same for the front as you do the rear?

Any help/guiidance would be greatly received.

Many thanks all.

It would be much better to get a set of the Carlos Fandango wheels - they look the business in my opinion.

I put a pair of 17mm spacers on the rears, and IMO looks much better for it. Had others say the same too.

I suppose it might slightly lower the centre of gravity (but I'm not very good at physics) on the basis that a wide thing of a certain height is more stable than a narrower thing of the same height...

increases its track too,IIRC the 944 Turbo came with them as standard

they also help if you want to put on wheels that aren't the correct offset, caliper clearance etc!
