Okay, just bought a complete set of brakes for the 996. I have a C4 2000 model and want to do it myself. I've done brakes on other cars, but just wanted to know if there is anything I might need to watch out for while putting it together.

Kind Regards

Steve

Are you replacing the discs or just the pads?

There's a good guide on renntech if you haven't already seen it.

Many thanks for the prompt replies. I am changing pads/discs/shims/sensors all round.

Cheers

I found a Brembo Brake specialist near to me having bought brakes from Design 911 and they charged me £150 to fit everything..

Maybe one of these have experience with Porsche.. Also note there was info in a previous post about replacing the caliper bolts also at the same time..

Cheers

£10 peace of mind, the caliper bolts have locking compound on them from Porsche also they are supposed to have some strange thread deformation characteristic so they don't work their way out.

I might just be regurgitating Porsche crap!!!

Thanks again everyone. I've spoken to my local garage, (bloke races cars for a bit of fun) and he says he will do the brakes at £35 +vat per Hour and since he has had Porsche before he knows it won't take him more than an Hour and a half!!!!! Bargain at that. I know he also wants to see the car as well.

Guess its of to him then!! Oh and I have also ordered the Caliper bolt sets as well.....on top of the brake kits.

Cheers again. Kind of missed the car for the last 4 weekends.......
