Hi i've just bought a 996 C4 (2001) the car has a Porsche GT3 Aero kit fitted along with GT3 Alloys, The wheels have a lot of flaking on them and i am looking to change them they have 235x40 18's on the front and 265x35 18's on the rear, does anyone know if i can fit 19's and if so what width of wheels should i be looking at? Secondly is there a lot of work in removing the boot lid and replacing with the standard lid that lifts at 75mph?

i use A1 Wheels in Wolverhampton for refurbisng Gt3 alloys

IMHO i wouldnt put 19's on a 911

the boot lid, is held on by 4 bolts, simple task

David, which aero kit is it? Is it the Mk1 or Mk2 kit? Also, what wheels are they: the Mk1 SportDesigns or the Mk2 versions?

I would be interested in both the kit and wheels depending.

Cheers -

Welcome David,

Good to see someone else from the frozen north on here.

My advice:

  • Refurb your existing alloys (forget about the 19" wheels)
[list:H9q8qfhQFl]Don't mess about with your spoiler. It's part of a kit along with the front air dam & skirts. If you remove it you'll have a car which is neither GT3-look nor Carrera-look, i.e. a mongrel!
You'd be looking at thousands to replace wheels, tyres and the kit properly - enjoy what you've got and save your pennies for the inevitable ownership costs: repairs & maintenance, tyres, etc don't come cheap.

Enjoy your car - it looks great as it is!

Ocean - I thought you already swapped your MK1 wheels for MK2 wheels - are you after another set of MK2s?

I know at some point I will be getting a 996(not being able to afford a GT3), So if I can get the boot lid, wheels, sports Exhaust ect.. I will be only looking for a 996 and not a 996 with GT3 kit already done !! :)

Wheels - get them refurb'd at lepsons (you are surrey based i think). £100 per wheel. Had mine done and they look awesome. I obviously scratched one a week later when severely hungover... Why would you ditch them? They're the best wheels you can get on a 996... Car looks great BTW.
