Jumping out of gear

A couple of times in the last few months the car has jumped out of gear. This has only happened when I have come to halt, selected first and gone to pull away. I am hoping it has just been me not engaging the gear fully but am slightly concerned it could be a portent (look it up in the dictionary if you don't know).

Sensible non abusive non colour related answers would be much appreciated :)

LOL Then you're better off posting on Rennlist or the PCGB forum if that's what you want! You know what's going to happen here don't you.

come on chaps, we're supposed to also have a serious site here as well, now and again !!!! :(

a gear shouldn't pop out unless it wasn't selected properly, but it is quite easy to disengage a gear when you're off the gas without the clutch, so unless you may have brushed it.......

Dave,

I had a Merc that did this trick. They spent hours in the workshop realigning the gate etc. In the end removing and refitting the visible gator (the leather bit you see in the car) fixed it, as the problem was caused by the stitched seam buckling up. After it was fixed I could re-create the problem simply by sliding my hand down the gear stick and twisting the gator. Twisted enough it would hardly stay in any gear. Untwist it and all was fine.

Thanks Sean that makes sense.

Warren I read the mauve cab bit and gave up

LOL Sean, any previous history as a writer of porn? Lurid letters to Razzle? Torrid fiction for the ladies? Perhaps you should produce something with the site's resident international porn star. :D
