I want to install a Nokia Bluetooth kit in my 996 Carrera 4S as I dont like the factory kit. The installer states he cant wire it in to mute the radio as its a Bose system. Is this the case ?Nige

Nige,

I've investigated the same, and yes, no-one can tap into PCM in order to mute the radio, and why they want in excess of a grand to retro-fit the phone module to PCM.

was a recommendation in that you dont butcher anything to install it. I've just got to find a local fitter. Save 700 quid and have to turn the vol down seems worth it to me

The problem is the post 2002 cars have most fibre optic speaker and ice cables

CDR 32 not CDR22

the hands free units use copper cables not fibre optics

Thnaks Guys. Looks like I'll just turn the volume down then !

It's got to be better than the built in load of rubbish !!

Nige.

I'm having the Parrot kit fitted today - Once I've given it a good test I'll let you know how it is.

Halfrauds are fitting Parrot kits reduced from £249 to £59. Yes £59. Fitted.

Mine will be going when I get it back. Bargain.

[/QUOTE]Aaaaargh!!!

Ive paid for the kit now!! Lets see what happend on Friday!

Do you know was it certain models (996? 993?)?

I bet this was due to late 996s having fibre optics. I reckon the 993 will be fine Martyn.

Mines a 996 but i didn't actually get as far as telling them that. Porsce told them not to touch the radios for some reason. Perhaps because of above post. Would be grateful if you would let me know how you get on and what they say as still fancy one!!
