Hi everybody

This is my first post on here. I am looking at buying a 996C4S. I have found a car at an independant dealer. 2003/53, 17000 miles, coupe, manual. Looks fantastic. However, the dealer tells me the car has had a new clutch fitted. This doesnt sound good to me, a new clutch at 17K. Should i be avoiding this car. The car is out of Porsche warranty, but the dealer will provide an Insurance type warranty for 12 months.

Any thoughts please.

Thanks

Hi Rikyy,

Welcome to the forum.

First Question; Hom much are they asking.

Second Question; Whats the spec on the car.

Third Question; Colour of car and interior

Fourth Question; Which dealer

Regards the clutch, no worries, they can go from 15k - 55k, I have an 03 C4S which I purchased last year with 14k miles on the clock, I was told it needed changing, and there was a little judder, however it is still going strong after 4 track days and now up to 26k miles, so depends on how particular previous owner was.

Dont touch the car without an inspection, the insurence type wtty's have a claims limit, and the 911 will wipe that out no problem, a replacement engine is £10k subsidised, and I doubt the wtty covers individual jobs excedding £1000!!!

When you post the info, I will tell you how much car is worth IMO,

Regards

Hi Speed Freak

The car is Nov 03,

Silver, Black leather interior, Memory seats, sunroof, Xenon h lights, Cd autochanger, sound pack (not Bose), Embosed headrests.

Car was last serviced at 14800 miles in April. New clutch was fitted 500 miles ago by an independant Porche specialist (redLine Racing in Stockton on Tees).

The price i have negotiated is £45K.

Hi Rikyy,

Sounds nice, though Bose and PCM would have been nice options,

Price sounds about right,

I suggest that you negotiate further, asking them to put a OPC ext wtty on the car, cost £730.

And tell them they wont need to buy the insurence based wtty, which will probably cost them approx £300, so £400 diffrence.

If it passes the OPC test and gets the wtty, then buy the car.

Regards

At the risk of sounding dim, what is OPC.

I was told that Porshes come with a two year waranty, which will have expired. Can this warranty be extended.

Regards

OPC = Official Porsche Centre or Porsche dealership to you & I

Porsche warranties can be put on any Porsche up to 10 years old. Needs to pass a Porsche inspection 1st however.

Sounds a nice car.

Inspection is £240 by the way. But if you get it, you know the car will be honoured by the local OPC. £45K is a good price. Shame about no Sat nav (PCM).

Hiya Servo, I have Porsche extended warranty on my car which is American build/chassis number, retained as a Porsche AG directors car in Germany, and imported to the UK so I could love it to bits. So yes is the answer :D
