I have an 03 996 C2 and have a conundrum. I have a rattle whihc only comes when the car is warm you can only hear it when driving over bumpy ground at slow speeds and seems to be coming from the front rhs. There is no unusual tyre wear.

Any ideas would be useful however my main point is that I was going to book it into my local OPC but they want to charge £99 plus vat for a hours work to investigate, and I'm thinking thius may turn into a few hours work.

It may be something or nothing and it may or may not be covered by my extended warranty. I'm wondering if I should try a specialist to find out what the problem is before deciding what to do. I spoke to one who was not really interested and suggested that there may be problems later with warranty claims if a specialist works on the car even on a non warrented item or on steering or supension items where the definition of whats included is a bit vague.

Any suggestions ?

NO NO NO

That sounds like an outrage to me!!!!!!!

Your car is covered under warranty how the hell can they charge you to investigate??

You need to advise them you have done some research on the net and there's no way can they charge you to investigate what the fault is.

Once they have located the fault and if its not covered they will be able to give you a written quote (which i would advise) you will then be in a position to decide if you want the work to be done by Porsche or not!!

To be honest sounds like a cv joint or drive shaft fault, im very doubtful the OPC would cover this type of work under warranty as it all comes down to wear and tear and how much of a Stealer your local OPC is.

Good luck

If you look at most main dealer warranties they dont cover diagnostic time to find the problem,

I believe this to be true certainly for Audi & BMW,Approved used car warranties, and to my knowledge its been this way for atl east 15 years
