How does this one look?

Does anyone know turbocentre as well?

Would appreciate feedabck as have changed my mind from buying a boxster to a 911 so just doing some research......just want to know if it looks like good value.

would i also be mad using it everyday to commute 30 mile round trip to work??

I think the majority of guys on here prefer a manual. I haven't driven a tip 996.

Hi nick,

I live just down the road from Cuffly, i drive past the Turbocentre most days..

Turbocentre are not Porsche specialists, however they always have some nice cars in their showroom, i know of 2 people who have bought from there including an R32 Golf and BMW X5, as far as i know they had no problems with their dealings with them..

Turbocentre used to be just a performance specialist in Pottersbar who used to sell the odd Renault 5 Turbo etc, however they have been well established in Cuffly now for at least 5/10 years selling all types of luxury/high performance vehicles.

Well done with your decision to buy a 911 instead of a boxster, the 911 is in a different class altogether!!

33K doesn't seem to bad for that spec cab, after all we are in the middle of the summer!!, however if you could consider lhd, check out lhdporsche.com . I bought my car from them and they lent me the exact same car in blue with a few more options and less mileage, and i could have bought that car for about 23k!!

The main things to consider IMO as your looking at the 3.4 996 is the warranty issue. This costs £725 a year and if you buy an out of warranty car, it may cost much more than that to pass the Porsche inspection. Also there does seem to be some good and bad OPCs, i along with a few others on here would never use certain OPCs again, PM me if you want more details on this..

Also some people moan about the plastics on the 996, so looking for a full leather variant might be another consideration..

Nice looking car. Not sure about the price though.

Love my tip. I found out that I am a naturally lazy driver, and its suits me down to the ground.

I'm sure Daz will be along soon to give us his unbiased opinion of the tiptronic cabriolet :wink:

Only kidding, looks a nice car, though you will probably pick up 4k cheaper in the depths of winter.

Whatever floats your boat is fine by me, and all Porsche 911's are fab cars, and in the summer in a built up area, a tip cab makes a lot of sense.

Only experience I have of Turbo centre put me off. A while back (last year) I was interested in one of their cars (£29K 993) which was top dollar (they certainly aren't cheap there). I asked for a price on a trade in on my 1988 targa (pristine condition) and pointed out that if i was paying his top price he better give me a top price, alternatively if he gives me a low price then i'll pay him a low price - get my meaning?

Firstly, the sale guy clearly doesn't know much about 911's from the way he's talking. Then he tells me he won't budge on his price and the price he offers me is 35% below the private price (that I later sell it at) never mind the dealer price! Greedy so&so.

turbocentre, used to have a reputation of selling bad Audi TT's..

although if they put a non-opc warranty on it, it would be worthless

looks like a nice car, but looks can be deceiving. i went to look at a manual cab (not from turbocentre) before i got my coupe, he was asking £28k for a 2000 w with 64k miles, sounded a fair deal and the pics looked great.



got there to find the centre glove box hanging off (common problem and OPC fix for £150 ish), a phone kit had been badly fitted and to remove would have left holes everywhere (he told me on the phone the dash was unmarked and immaculate), the wheels were scuffed, the leather was worn and generally the car was tatty.

be careful what u consider buying and I'd advise you to look at as many 911s as possible, to get a feel for them and what standard they should be at for the years.

Also, the price seems to be steep, i would have said £30k is what they should be advertising for and taking around £29k if everything is ok.

I don't know turbo centre personally but when they have had models in that I've been interested in, I thought they seemed expensive.

I didn't think the asking price for the car you've seen is totally ott but suspect some searching on the internet will answer the question and pull up some good cars for comparison. There's a lot of them around so haggle hard at the end of the month because its the holiday season now.

The 996 is a bigger car and therefore probably better for every day use and if you want an auto, then its a better gear box than its predecessor's.

And if you want a cabriolet, then the 996 is one of the best around.
