I am sorry if i upset any members if they feel that i am trying to get free advertising but.

As some of you no doubt know I have been having all my cars serviced by an OPC, a 111 point inspection and giving or including in my price a Porsche Main dealer Warranty.

Porsche GB's warranty dept have audited my local OPC and my warranties and service invoices,

Whilst the rep was amazed at the way and cost that i prepare my cars

INFUTURE THEY WILL NOT SELL ME WARRANTIES

They will only sell them to the new owner, If the new owner asks an OPC to have car re inspected, fills in a financial services act questionaire and pays for the warranty direct and 111 Point Check

The next problem nodoubt is how i can inform you of this sevice without paying £2000 a year to the FSA to recommend an Insurance based product that i receive no commission for and that they wont let me sell?

mark, i have been aware of this a long while, and am surprised u werent, thought u had an arrangement with the opc where the customer paid for the wtty and u reimbursed them.

this first came to my attention when i ried to sell my old 996 without wtty to a dealer, when i asked if itwould be worth more with wtty, he said it made no diffrence as the wtty was not transferable from a dealer to a customer.

apparently the wtty is only transferable on a private sale.

stuoid rule i know

no its not the transfer issue

they now wont sell me a new warranty ( for a second hand car) after i've had the car serviced and inspected, they'll only do it for the end user

mark

is there no half way house ? i.e if you had the cars inspected + 111 point check then upon sale the customer would have the option to buy the OPC warranty or not ??

or is it an all or nothing position ?

as a moderator I do not see this as an issue, you advertise in phil's site in the correct manner and your contribution to the forum is invaluable, so in view of the size of the Porsche market I don't see a conflict

regards

no

it means i service do a 111 point check

then the customer has to have the check done again pay for it, answer some questions to keep the FSA Happy and pay for the warranty themselves

I MUST NOT PAY FOR THE WARRANTY

But you might try and ask for discount off my price

next qustion is how i can advertise this service in my adverts? without upsetting the trading standards, financial services authority & Porsche GB?

And I thought i was trying to offer my customers the best service i could in terms of pre and after sales care

I take it this is all to do with the FSA form I had to fill in when I did mine last week.

I thought it was a bit over the top then - but basically it is an Insurance policy.

mad thing is

if you come to my office i can give you a Porsche warranty brochure and explain its benefits all legally because I call myself a Porsche specialist and i am informing you of a service that Porsche offer,

But if i gave a you a Skoda warranty leaflet I'm breaking the law if i dont call myself a skoda specialist

We sometimes have this problem from Porsche dealers in Germany. Basically Porsche AG forbid thre network of dealers to give used car warranties to non-official dealers. This is to protect the sales within the Porsche dealer network. Afterall if a non-official dealer is offering exactly the same product as a Porsche dealer at much less price, who are you going to go to?

Its unfair I know but I think its now been passed on from Porsche AG to GB. Some Porsche dealers will still do it for us, but they are becoming rare.

Dave

Dave, I take it therefore that you are connected with an OPC. Can you clear up an issue that was raised here a few weeks ago?

The issue was that Porsche USA were voiding warranties if people had tracked their cars. Is this true of PGB?

To complicate things further, one of the members was taken to a track to test a new 997 by his local OPC. Presumably they will sell this car on as an ex-demonstrator with the remainder of its warranty which, in effect, wouldn't be worth the paper it was written on as they could refute any claim because they know damn sure that it has been tracked. Whilst they might not treat the person who buys it from them this way, what happens if he sells it on? :?

Seagull

Not from an OPC, totally independant but buy all our cars from OPC's ( if that makes sense )

Rob called me about the warranty issue a couple of weeks ago and I spoke to somebody at Porsche AG about it. Basically as long as you have not totally abused the car ie out it into first gear at 100 mph!! then they have no problem with the car being tracked. But thats Porsche AG, who from what people tell me are much more professional and helpful than Porsche GB.

I have been told that Porsche Lancaster are very good at dealing with track cars and honouring warranties etc. A certain Yellow Turbo with 600BHP that you may have seen about has its warranty work done there, so its not all doom and gloom.

Cheers

Dave

exactly ! from a marque that sells GT3 RS's et al... after all a track day car with a warranty...

although back to the subject, are there other companies out there who can offer at least 6 month warranties for Porsche cars ?

Can you imagine car care plan paying out £10K for a new engine on a policy they sell for £500?

Thats why I've been putting Porsche Warranties on my car

A Specialist in the midlands gives warranties from a company that wont pay more than a £30 an hour labour rate

OPC's charge £99 an hour
