996 sports exhaust with 4tube tips

I have just fitted the Tequipment four-tube tips to my sports exhaust and I would say that the exhaust note is now a bit deeper and a tad quieter. It might just be my imagination but I feel that the power is a little down as well.

These tips have a reasonable sized indentation on the bend so that they clear the cross pipe from the cat, and I wonder if this is causing a little restriction to the gas flow. Has anyone else experienced a before and after fitment of these tips?

Hi,

This is something I want to look into for my sports exhaust.

From the physics perspective if there is a change in the diameter, bend or a split then there will be the potential for back flow which could decrase power and change the note of the sound.

However I am assuming that Tequipment know waht they are doing and are marrying both products together to get the optimal performance.

I will look into this further.

Regards Alan.

Hmmmm...i am confused, I had thought (from specing up a 996 4S yonks ago on porsche site configurator) that the PSE was not compatible with the 4 tube tips.

could be wrong, and too late to check now as configurator is for 997...

Hmmmm.....as well, I wonder if this is the case. :(

But if it's a gas flow issue, surely it would affect the stock exhaust as well.
