996 Starting Problem

Hi All

Usually when I turn the ignition on, I get a 5sec countdown in the oil level indicator, this time I had a 9m 30secs countdown and the car refused to start. I waited patiently for the countdown to complete, had another go, still no good. Turned everything off and tried again, this reset the counter to over 9mins again, however, this time it started.

Whats all that about? Any ideas?

Cheers

Steve

the countdown has no impact on starting, when the car is warm, or cold you get a 5 sec oil level countdown. if the car has been started and run for a few secs but isnt at running temp then a longer countdown time is given for an accurate level reading. its a bit strange that the car didnt start, was it turning over ok?

It was turning over fine, has a new battery as well. It's a tiptronic, so maybe its just the still in gear starting restriction button thingy sticking?
