Christmas Eve came and thought I’d give me liddle lady with the big @rse a nice wash. Chamoi’d her and took her for a nice blast with the roof rolled back, hit the peddle to the metal and off we went...

Came home with a massive GRIN :D
and parked her straight into the garage. While holding the close switch I heard *(&^*(^%&%&%^.. and the roof got slower and then
stopped!! rolled back and forth but no go.. called the Mrs in and asked her to operate the switch while i looked at the runners from the top, no joy!!!

Not wanting to spoil crimbo and spending new years in NYC :) i locked her up.

Called JAZ last week and spoke to Steve, who told me they had worked on the blinds regularly and will be happy to take on big @rse

I thought great but saw the ££££'s :?
rolling away and after an expensive xmas and NY, the last thing I need is this. Booked the car in and she got dropped off Tuesday just gone.

Had a chat with David who is working on the car and was very confident that he’ll have her back with everything working. As for the cost… I await in tainted breath!!

Jaz carried out the 12k service and I’ve had a fantastic service up to now. I would recommend these guys for sure and will keep you folks posted once I hear about the Targa roof and rollers….

Anybody else had roller or blind problems?

Fingers crossed all goes well.

I geuss it depends on what parts are required, I was speaking with the guys at Northways about a minor fix to my roof and was advised you have to buy a Targa roof fixing kit which contains many components (and of course you only need 1 or 2 of them) this kit cost Circa £700.

Good luck.

When I bought mine the blind didn't work because it needed a clip. Had one or two issues with fitting the clip and getting the blind to work. Needless to say learnt a lot about how the blind worked and never had a problem.

Once by accident I pressed the roof switch when the blind was closed and I had a problem with my blind. According to the manual you can just use the roof switch and it will retract the blind and the then open the roof, but since having that one problem if the blind is closed and I want to open the roof I always use the switch to retract the blind and then the switch to open the roof.

Hope the outcome is favourable

There are a couple of Maintenace bulletins relating to this (.pdf files) I had them on an old PC noit sure if I still have them, I will have a hunt around my PC and see if I can find them,

In the mean time maybe somebody else has them??

SHE IS BACK!!! :D

Collected her last night from JAZ after nearly 2 weeks on the operating theatre...Pre-booking when I had a chat with Steve (Mr JAZ) to ask about the costs and can he do the job, his response was "sure, we've done many blinds and shouldn't be too a problem. To have the blind replacement work was a few hundred pounds and I thought great.

Few days later, I called up to ask about progress and was told that they have the whole roof off the rollers
and seems that the cable which pulls the roof back had been shreded. This in turn, affected the rollers and they are speaking with Porsche (Reading) for costs for replacement parts!! :?

After reading the costs for a replacement kit for £700.00 (plus Labour) from Martyn, I made an appointment to see my GP :?
.Steve was very sympathetic and understood that this was not the initial problem we discussed but they, only found the true problems after further investigation.I had read on many forums that dealers and specialist walk away from Targa's. With JAZ, it wasn't a problem and no quibbles, they had a few issues with acquiring the parts but got on with the job and David who carried out the job spent considerable time on the phone with me to explain what/how/problems that he was going through, while he carried out the surgery let alone the hours spent in the car.

This was their first experience with the replacement kit
with costings, coming in slightly less than (£700 )KIT ONLY, but not far off the mark.

The labour was far more than I was charged for, but this was a cost that I could have done without with our current situation.Collected car yesterday evening and spent nearly an hour with Steve looking around his garage with some VERY tasty classic projects his currently working on and general chit chat on Porkers 8)
.Drove to Windsor last night to see my aunt and I realised why I love the 993

Special thanks to JAZ and my wife for not leaving me

WHEN IS TEH NEXT MEET???
