eventually got my 18 inch gemballa lemans back from being refurbed (will post pictures after cleaning the rest of the car - the downside of using it every day at the moment!)
have had lots of cars fwd, 4x4 etc and had various changes of widths diameters profiles etc - and came to the conclusion large wheels on the road are bad - too hard, tramlining, torque steer (fwd) etc
so why 18s to replace the 17 cups - well i really liked the look of them!
so what difference.....
weight - very little difference between the two
ride quality - not much difference - seem better than 17's on the motorway which defies logic
tramlining - yes definate increase but not that bad
looks - rs speedline look minus the split rim hassle (ideal on a daily driver) - 10 inch rears fill the arches SSSOOOOO well
only fear is curbing as the 225 265 combo is quite stretched looking exposing the rim a bit
recomended
