993 brake pad wear

Has anyone had any experience with the brake pad wear warning light on the 993? Mine came on the other day while driving along and stayed on till I got home. Next time I took the car out, the warning light stayed off completely and on the subsequent occasion, despite some (careful) fairly hard braking, the light stayed off until I got home, stuck the car in reverse to go in the garage - on comes the light. Is this normal behaviour when the pads are wearing down or could it be a fault with the sensor wiring?

It could be the fluid level low. If it is do not top up just yet. Check the thickness of the pads. As the pads wear the fluid level drops as fluid is transfered from the reservoir to the calipers. The reason not to top up is to avoid spillage when the caliper pistons are squeezed back during pad replacement.

I think once it goes on it stays on until you switch ignition off and on again.

So if the fluid is low and you trip the level sensor by going down a steep hill it will stay on till the next journey.
