irregular idle/running rough

Help,

My 993 c2 has taken to idling at between 1200-1400 rpm once it warms up, this makes driving in traffic a chore.

Combined with this it appears to be running rough or at least have a mechanical vibration once over about 50mpf(not tyre related)

Now heres the problem...

The car has been to JZ Machtech, who could find no fault and said it drove well(it doesnt at the moment)

The car is at another independant who advises more or less the same, ie the diagnostic shows no fault at all at there is nothing apparent wrong, latest suggestion is a 'tired' air flow meter.

I am so frustrated by this, being told by specialists there's nothing wrong with the car when clearly it is running far worse than I've been used to.

Apologies for the long missive but any ideas???

Does th idle go up and down for a bit? or is it just faster than before? mine "hunt" for a while until the engine's warm, might be the ISV needs cleaning or the airflow meter fault, but not bothered me enough to do anything about it yet. May be you can try cleaning the ISV (DIY section of p-car.com)and see if it helps.

No once the car has warmed up the idle settles at the higher level, sometimes when idling at lights it drops down to the correct 800 but not often.

Both independants and myself (because JZM failed to reconnect it properley) have tried the ISV route, made no difference whatsoever.

Is there anything to do with the airflow meter? except replace it??

I've heard of people mentioning about cleaning the airflow meter but don't know any more than that, sorry.
