2000 bought my first 911 (a 964 C4) cost £18,000
up to May 2003 I spent £9,000 on performance upgrades and servicing and sold it for £15,000, total cost £12,000

May 2003 bought my current 993 £30,000
so far I have spent £4,000 on fixing the aircon and performance upgrades, total cost so far £34,000. Why can't I leave alone?

total the two £48,000, add £10,000 or so and hey presto

a used but still awesome GT3

the slippery slope has started again :(

and I bet after the 17th Nov (track day with Sean) that it will get worse!

Poon,

as a comparison :

I bought my 964 in c1995 for 19k spent oohhh £100 on it.
New heater motor & some boot upright things to stop the damn thing dropping on my head. Anyway it got nicked and I got c£17k back from the Insurance company.

So i'm down £2k

Then in Feb i bought my 993 Targa for c30k spend £200 on a new stereo and thats it !!. Probably still worth £30k

I know why you can't stop its 'cause the wife doesn't get to see all the bill's !

My wife opens all my mail inc. bank statements. So guess what, I have to justify everything to her and myself.

That said you are a true enthusiast, unlike me who is a armchair supporter

Ah you didn't call me young.

I think poon is mocking me, he didn't reply to the PM I sent him about a week ago...

But you obviously enjoy spending money on your cars, so what's the problem? It's your money enjoy spending it while you still can. You can never hope to get money back from upgrades, especially in the short term it's just dead money.
