What was the situation with the "Porsche" writing on the sides of early 911's just above the sills.?

I have a 1972 911T Targa in Light Yellow and am thinking of adding this look in black.

Was it an option available to anyone at the time the cars were released?

Please let me know before I "un-originalize" my car.

Thanks.

I have found various example of the use of PORSCHE script along the rocker in that period. The Car & Driver roadtest of a 72S. Chris Harvey's "The Porsche 911" has a 73 2.4T on page 25.

I also have 74 brochure where it is offered as an option. It was very common on Porsche competion cars, I have photos 69 911R and the 73/74 IROC cars so equiped.
