Thanks to everyone (especially James Ball) for their advice recently in helping me look for a 993 C2. I bought one this weekend from an independent specialist, it is a 1995 (N) model with 60,000 miles indicating, FPSH and it really is in immaculate condition. I paid a shade under £30,000 for it with a new MOT, fairly recently serviced with a new clutch 10,000 miles ago. I also decided to pay for an additional years warranty on it for extra peace of mind. One small thing that is niggling me though is the gear change which seems a little bit lumpy, mainly when shifting from first to second when accelerating hard and was more noticeable this morning with it being so cold. It actually shifts fine in that is doesn't feel restricted but just a little lumpy. Third or fourth to second at high revs is a nice clean change. I've read reports that the syncromeshes tend to deteriorate on 993s but given that it has a full history, a fairly low mileage and really doesn't look like it has been worked hard in town, I thought this was all looking good.
Is this just me being a paranoid new owner or is there a potential problem here? Can anyone give me some pointers as to other indicators I can look for or should I take it to another specialist for an inspection? The problem is not manifesting itself in an especially obvious way and I think if I take it back to the dealer where I bought it, they will fob me off?
Thanks guys
