Indicator switch options?

Does anyone know if the 997 indicator/wiper switchgear fits the 996? I can get 997 switches for £35 instead of £135 for 996 ones (£180 for new ones), and the 997 switches are nicer.

Are there any other options? I feel aggrieved paying so much for a bloody switch :floor:
 
I've also often wondered if the nicer 997 switches would work.

Go on, if a 997 one's only £35... try it and let the world know! :popcorn:

Looking at the pics though the fittings look different.
 
If it doesn't fit I have a good one somewhere. Won't be any good if you have cruise control,however!

I only have poverty spec indicators and wipers ;)
