Bought my first Porsche

Picked my new car up on Saturday!

As I said its a lightly specced Carrera but its in the colour combo I wanted and I got a really good price on it. It's a 2015 and I bought it for the same price I was going to buy a 2012 for. (bought privately as the previous owner had died of a heart attack on holiday last month :-( )

I was mulling over it because it doesn't have PSE but after 3 years of diesel cars, I am absolutely made up with the noise it makes anyway!

It needs its 4-year service which is £950 at Porsche or £723 at the local specialist (Tech 9) who are supposed to be really good.

I think for the sake of a couple of hundred quid its worth keeping the history OPC, isn't it?

Pics are terrible as it has rained since the moment I got it.

I did have a moment on the way back from picking it up where I got a red message on the dash to stop due to lack of coolant and the gauge was reading 120 degrees plus but it turns out after speaking to Porsche it was likely a sensor due to being sat for a month, it cleared after 20 mins and has been fine since.

Its obvs been really well looked after. It has 4 brand new N rated tyres on it and the only mark I can find on it is on the rim of the front near side wheel but it minor so not sure if I will get it done or not.

I'm thinking of getting the callipers painted Red which will match the interior. What do you guys think?

Apart from that and the lack of cruise control which just seems mad to me on a car of this price I am ecstatic with it and cant stop looking out the window in my office! :)

:welcome: to 911uk and to 911 ownership BW. :thumb:

Agate Grey is a great colour and I can't recall seeing another with that interior so you did well to find it if that was your preference.

Sounds like you grabbed yourself a bargain.

Personally I'd leave the calipers alone.

Thanks!

I love the interior. I had wanted an all red interior but I actually think this is nicer now as it has a black top of dash/black wheel and black mats.

The PCM is a bit rubbish compared to a BMW but I can live with it. what are my options for map updates etc?

:congrats:

I've also recently joined the 991 fold and now I am busy saving my £££'s to have PSE and Cruise retro-fitted by a friendly OPC!

Enjoy the ride!

congrats and what a lovely car and colour combo. I love a red interior with a dark grey external. enjoy

yes I think the red calipers would set it off a treat.

My understanding is that painting the callipers can cause them to overheat

Also, would invalidate any Porsche warranty on the car

I'd never heard about the overheating issue and although it might stop an OPC warranty being renewed I can't see why it would invalidate any existing one. :dont know:

Very, no VERY nice

Not jealous at all (git)

Nice car love the colour combo, they are great fun. :thumb:

Thanks Guys!

Have had a quote to do the Calipers properly is going to cost £350.

The weather isn't as terrible Today so I think I am going to get it cleaned and might try to take some better pictures.

This confirms what I have been thinking. I am just back from a week all inclusive in Spain and it felt bloody dangerous to me.

Welcome on board Bigweb and congrats on the car. Looks great :thumb:

As you are no doubt discovering, the 991 is a fantastic piece of kit.

I understand the appeal but personally I wouldn't paint the calipers red on a non-S model, in the same way that I wouldn't paint them yellow on a car without PCCB but that's just a personal thing and if you really want red calipers.... I might have them re-painted gloss black with Porsche in silver, as the standard finish on the Carrera calipers is quite dull and the bolts often need changing/refinishing, as the heads tend to go rusty.

As you say, if it's always had services at an OPC, then for a few hundred pounds more on a fairly new car, it's probably best to keep it OPC for the time being.

At some stage you might succumb to having the car fitted with PSE, which transforms the sound from great, to epic!

Neither of these jobs need doing immediately, as the car is fantastic anyway, so for the time being just get the service done and enjoy!!

Welcome to Porsche ownership. You won't look back.
