Oil in vacuum lines

Firstly I would like to say hi to everyone I'm new to Cayenne ownership but have owned a few different Porsche's over the years. I have recently brought a 2008 Cayenne GTS in black. The car has 98000miles on it and drives very well. Has full service history, some main dealer and some specialist. I'm very please with the car and have carried out some routine maintenance brake disc/pads, ATF fluid change cleaned all drains out. Whilst checking the operation of the sports exhaust flaps which seem to not be closing. I pulled the vacuum line of one of the actuators and engine oil leaked out? I found oil the pipe all the way back to where the pipe runs up inside the front wheel arch. I checked the inlet manifold a looking inside there is a fine layer of oil inside, no pools of oil just a find mist. There is no smoke from the exhaust no CEL and car idles perfectly. My question is this what could cause the oil to get into the vacuum line? Could this be a failing AOS? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm afraid there's very little i can say as its not system i know that well ..

A thin film of oil in the manifold is normal .. it happens on every porsche .. for to to be excessive then you would have smoking out of the exhausts .. not something i've come across on these before .

AOS is very different from the sports models .. it's possible but again you should get more oil in the inlet tract or smoking .

On the gen 1 Cayennes then the vacuum take off was at the rear of the manifold , not sure on these but it's worth finding the source of the vacuum and seeing if there is any check valve fitted .

In short i don't know but if the pipes and actuators are filled with oil then i doubt the actuators will work again but i am guessing at this point .

Far easier when i have the car in front of me than on here i'm afraid .. sorry .

DeMort thanks for the reply. I will try and follow the vac line back and see if there is a check valve. :thumb:

Markgolf Thanks for the reply. Did you fine oil in your exhaust actuators vac line of was is moisture? My actuators and valves still operate after I drain the oil from the vac line. Yesterday I removed the oil filler cap with the running. To check the AOS I noticed there was a some vacuum on the oil cap nothing crazy but I'm not sure how much vacuum is acceptable? Markgolf, great thread, your GTS looks fantastic a real credit to you. :thumb: :thumb:
