Polar to Mexico Blue

Hi all my 993rs rep is going in for a full strip down and re-spray from Polar silver to either Mexico or Riveria blue in the next few weeks. Leaning more to Mexico at this stage after seeing both in the flesh ( prefer the slightly darker blue although the are quite similar)
I have also ordered a new set of tramont cup2's after failing to source a set of speedlines. I understand the tramont's are quite a faithful copy, RS front splitters. RS door cards, carpet set, pole position SPG's with backs in the same colour.

Question is anyone who has just undergone a similar exercise what else did you replace ? so far on the list are:-
full exhaust heat shields
Rear Chassis Support mounts
window seals
RS rear screen
Oil temp thermostat whilst the wings are off.
Remove & weld up front light wash jets.

Sounds like quite a project... Get the sills checked as most 993's at this age need some work.
You never mentioned suspension, what setup are you thinking of?

These period Solid Blue's are very popular right now and will be more popular than iris or polar in a few years...

Cant wait to see it all done! Mexico Blue will look amazing.. I had washer jets weld up, looks so much better to me. I left my sunroof as I will be selling car soon and I know some people would want it left in.

Tramonts are great, I had them on mine but now I have original Speedlines

Carl, What does a set of 993 RS Speedlines in good condition (almost perfect bar one small scratch) sell for nowadays with brand new P4 rubber? It flipping annoys me they lose a few psi every week. Is this normal?

Can't wait to see the car finished in Mexico. One of the best colours imo

There was one GT2 finished in I think PTS RS Blue? Has to be one of the nicest 993 I have ever seen. It's at this link https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=535406

How exciting! 8) Look forward to following progress :). Who is doing the work?

A few more ideas:

Rear Bumper supports
Heatshieilds
Chassis legs
A-pillar check straps
New front glass (will have to come out anyway for prep and paint)
New rear glass (you can go for either heated glass or lightweight option)
Rear wiper delete
Sunroof delete
Rain gutter delete if you're feeling brave :D
Headlight lens/indicators/rear reflector if yours are looking tired
Upgrade to ToreB's T-LED, Porsche 993 LED kit
Ducting arrangement up front - I couldn't decide and went for new standard foglight units
Agree with 911livin - the washer jet delete looks so much better

There is another blue to definitely consider, my favourite, Turquoise Blu...

Mexico:

Hi IMI,

Hope you are well fella.

A good set of used Speedlines will sell for £4k+ and a few hundred more with decent rubber.
New Speedlines can still be bought from Porsche and retail at around £6.5k.

The only reason Speedlines lose a few psi every week is because of a poor/inexperienced refurb. There's an art to creating the airtight seal between the mating surfaces of the inner & outer barrels and some so called split rim specialists still get it wrong...!

Cheers - I reached out to Eli not long ago via email but not heard back yet unfortunately

Out of interest, will the shell be taken back to bare metal? :dont know:

My Mexico Targa:-

For RS upgrade path you need John's input Endomon, he'll give you the rundown. Brace yourself there's quite a list.

It's notoriously difficult to illustrate the different shades of blues accurately, here are a couple of examples of Riviera against the darker Mexico....

Hope that helps.

Try Diamond Styling in Kent, they have rebuilt a couple of sets of 3 piece wheels for me and I've never had any pressure drop. The same can't be said for others.

its been a really hard decision to paint the car a new colour as polar silver is a great colour depending on the light with tinge of blue in it. I have blue hardback sports seats which suit the colour very well. However after selling my C2S widebody 993 I purchased this car a few years ago to modify it too my ideal RS spec. It needed a full re-spray after suffering the normal rust issues on the scuttle, wheel arches and sills the cost of changing the colour at this stage is not that more expensive. Providing you don't take the engine out. I always wanted one in Mexico or riviera so might as well do it now...

The sunroof will be staying as the cost to put in a new roof skin will be prohibitive.. Here are some pics of the car as is..
