Had a letter and car booked in for Saturday morning... Porsche have released a new cup holder for the 992!!!

(and apparently software update)

I'd originally booked my car in for keyless entry... simply hardly ever works, in comparison to the 991.
 
There have been a few issues regarding this model and launch so i'm lead to believe .

Porsche are as usual working their way through various fixes .

Im afraid its nothing new from any new model at launch from Porsche and way back to Volvo which i used to work on some 30 years ago .. new model .. and there will always be some issues .
 
I do wonder if anything is actually possible to be done with the keyless? I'm not holding up much hope as i assume dealer cannot actually adjust anything. But thought no harm to ask, seeing as paid for the option, not unreasonable to expect it to actually work. :dont know:
 
I have no actual knowledge of this fault i admit but off hand it seems like a transmitter fault from the fob .. a signal boost or a software update is whats needed imho but as said .. Indys dont work on new cars so i have little info to go on other than nagging my old buddies at opc !
 
The only trend is that it works more consistently when the car is wet, as your hand makes better contact/earth/resistance with the handle as you lift it.
 
Well, the cars dropped off.... 4 pages of updates to sign to be done to the car tomorrow! Intrigued what the software and cup holder changes are lol. I've asked to keep the cup holder cubby thing that came with the car in case it's better than what they replace it with!?

The only software update I'd be interested in is one that enabled a narrower choice of digital dashboard display. We can only hope.
 
I just got my letter... is yours sorted now, was wondering if you can send a picture? The letter says there's a redesigned centre console so I don't think it's just a swap-out of the cubby hole itself?

They need to sort the keyless go, it drives me crazy and is embarrassing when you walk up to the car, grab the handle and nothing happens.
 
Mine's booked in on Tuesday. I already had it booked in to fix a buzzing speaker in the passenger door so it timed nicely with the letter.
I also would be interested to see what the new design is. I'm actually happy with the current storage. All i use it for is the key and sunglasses.
I'd love to see an online configurator for the dash and central screen that could be uploaded to the car.
 
I agree, the cubby hole is a perfect cup holder so I just hope they don't make it worse. The question is, do we have to have the replacement or can we just ignore it?

I wonder how much a Porsche 992 cupholder goes for -- my bet, somewhere around £200 with the same to fit it :D

The cup holder is shallower than what it replaces... think I prefer the non-cup-holder.
