Hiya, budget is about £25/27k approx. I thought that perhaps a 2010 or 2011 Cayman 3.4S PDK would be the best bet. Is that a 981 model? I would want heated seats pse, sports chrono, maybe Bose defo fsh and lots of services. Does that sound like a good plan, or should i revise that? Bear in mind i am on Jersey so car values are a bit less here.
Thanks for advice,
Cheers rick

Black?

Seriously though, what is she looking for in a car? They are a very focussed drive and the toss up between manual or PDK would be the first question that I'd be asking. Is your sister in Jersey too? I know that it's reasonably busy in places but you also have some nice country lanes where the manual would be lovely and more interactive from a car.

981 version comes in from 2012 if I recall correctly. The 2010-11 model would be the 987, but still a lovely car - nicer looks (personal thing) but better tech on the later model cars.

There are lots of 'best spec to get' threads, some of them are personal, others done for resale and others are billy basics.

For me you've got the main ones:

Porsche Sports Exhaust
Bose

I would question if you really need heated seats in a Cayman? And in Jersey? :D If it was a top-down Boxster, yes, but not in a Cayman. Probably in the 'personal' category.

Sports Chrono would be on my list for the PDK variants, less so on a manual.

FSH - don't discount decent Indy's not necessarily Porsche themselves.

Good luck with the hunt!

There's a £22k manual 981 Boxster on AT that looks tempting.

Also a £25k 981 cayman with 51k miles. (Guards red :thumb:)

981 Boxsters are much cheaper than caymans. I don't know if you can buy a hardtop for the 981?

If it were for me I'd want manual, PSE, Sports seats, extended leather as must haves.

I'd maybe compromise on the exhaust and go aftermarket or custom. :thumb:

As is always the case with used enthusiast/specialist cars, you have to be prepared to travel. How much is the car ferry crossing? The furthest I've travelled is Isle of Wight for a Corrado vr6 back in the day.

Good luck!

Thanks Jim and James,
I am in Southern Germany with my sister in the 911, and she is hugely liking the pdk that my c2s has (just visited the Porsche museum with factory tour) so it will be a pdk. She splits her time between Jersey and Italian alps so the heated seats are a must have! As to importing a car into Jersey from the uk, it is a surprisingly clunky process and also costly, with import tax at 5% and various enviromental taxes to pay, so i will be patient and source one on island. There are hundreds driving around here so one will turn up. I will update this when i find one!
Cheers rick

And the result is she has found a 9 month old 718 Cayman in Crayon, with just under 2000 miles on it from the local opc. Picks it up tomorrow!
Cheers

He he, which proves buyers are liars, (an estate agent told me this-we always ending getting different than we think we want).

I was tempted by 718 gts but ended up going a bit more old school with the bgts 981.

Good luck with the new ride.

Just a bit of budget creep then

Congrats! Hope she lets you have shot.
