Creaks from new suspension

Recently completed a full refresh of my C2 and put an M030 kit on. Previous to that the cars had 4x new coffin arms and tuning forks (within the last 600miles). Kit was installed with new damper hardware and top mounts/drop links etc all round.

Day 1 after new M030 kit, car felt absolutely perfect, handling was transformed etc. Had it aligned at a reputable place (use to perform all of OPC's work) and all the figures are pretty much bang on. Yesterday, after taking it out for a quick blast in the sunny countryside it developed a creak (like an old sprung bed!).

Only does it when cornering I.e when torsional load is applied. Bouncing the car up and down makes no noise.

Jacking the car up I can hear the same creak/clicks. But can't pinpoint where - other than the front. Double and triple checked all nuts and bolts in all 4 arches for every component I can find but all ok?

As it creaks/clicks when the car is turning, my head says it's something related to the ARB possibly? I put the new bushings in dry - seems a 50/50 call on the net for use and no use of lube (no jokes please).

Should the arb bushes have a slip of silicone grease in them? (These are the M030 OEM rubber ones)

Other than that, anyone got any ideas?! It's driving me mad!!!

You haven't clamped anything up whilst the car is in the air have you? All bolts that clamp any parts with rubber bushes/internal metal sleeves should be done with the car in its seated position so that the rubber isn't twisted. I can imagine that making said noise if its been clamped up in the air the twisted when in its seated position.

The front links were located and nipped but not to full torque before being torqued when the wheels were on the ramps. Worth a try! Thanks Alex.

Looses and re-set all the roll bar whilst it was elevated on ramps - creaking is still there :x

I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it - all the suspension bits (shocks, springs, ARB's and bushes, top mounts, bearings etc) are new and the coffin arms and tuning forks are no very old at all!

Think I'll have to concede defeat and take it to the specialist to diagnose! So frustrating!

A total guess here from what you have said and what it feels like to me .. rubber grease inside the front anti roll bar bushes ... they are dry .

Other than that i'm afraid someone needs to look at it .

Right - got to the bottom on the creak/clicking when low speed turning or initially turning into corners. Worse when turning over uneven ground....the culprit. The control arm where it's bolted under the chassis. (Not the end where the tuning fork connects). It can be replicated by leaning on it with a bar and you get the same creak/click. I can only assume the bushing is faulty or it's rotating in the casting? Going to whip it off and take a look...

This is annoying because:
A- it was newly fitted in 2018 (July)
B- it's taken bloody ages to pinpoint it.

So now got to see if I can return it via warranty...

Still, at least I know what it is!

Glad you've got to the bottom of it, which brand is the offending arm?

Aghh i see .. the coffin arm ..

Before removal and if you can .. with the wheels on the ground then slacken this bolt so it settles then tighten ..

I'm just wondering if it was fitted when the suspension was hanging down .. as it normally sits with the wheel almost lvl then it might be held in the lower position and needs resetting .

On a ramp and its best to jack up the arm before tightening this bolt .

May well be faulty but this is worth a check .

It was an ATP part - just checked the paperwork and it's got a 3 year warranty so I should be ok for a refund...

As I've still got an annoying minor 'clunk" when accelerating I'm going to check the transmission mounts tomorrow and hopefully be clunk free soon!

DeMort - will try as suggested just in case!
