Bonnet release cable routing

Hi guys, does anyone know the correct routing of the bonnet release cable on the early 996's?

On mine I've got a couple of rubber grommets like you can see in these borrowed images located near the fuel filler pipe:

Does this cable just flap around on top of the arch liner? I seem to recall these two grommets being located... somwehere.

There's literally NOTHING on the internet about this (only the emergency release cable) so any help would be greatly appreciated :)
