Never been 100% happy with my machine mart axle stands on the 996 - the top \_/ is slightly narrower than the jacking points.

Esco flat top stands look perfect but cannot find them in the UK.

Any suggestions for alternatives? Vigor look similar but not quite the same?

Regards

Ian

PS apologies if done to death before!!

I have this issue too. Luckily I get to the US a few times a year with work and have looked over there too. The problem is that anything I have seen with a decent flat top are very expensive. I had contemplated welding on flat tops and using a hockey puck on top as suggested on the www, but I don't think that is ideal either.

Until I have money that I don't need to spend on car parts, i'm Sticking with my Halfords stands.

Not sure if this helps, so just letting you know you are not alone!

Currently pondering welding some 10mm thick X 75mm dia mild steel discs onto some stands with some thick rubber bonded on top.

Esco seem illusive in the UK!!

Basically ice hockey pucks contoured to fit a standard axle stand.

I use a piece of rubber cut from an old car tyre, a cheap (free) solution that work well.

Its great having friends who are expert fabricators. New tops for the axle stands my dad made in the 70s. Just need to stick some rubber on the top!

Nice job. I had looked at the off the shelf versions but couldn't justify the cost. Must find a mate that can fabricate - unless someone in here wants to offer their services and do a bulk buy/ production...

Hi didn't trust the jack stands either so made up these.

20 quids worth of MDF and some time.

Work a treat.

Now that is the best use for MDF I think I have ever seen :worship:

You don't have a note of the dimensions do you?
Might be a trip to B&Q for me this weekend :D

Top sections were 200mm x 200mm and the bottom I did 200 x 300 just for a bit of added stability.

Cheers
