The trip button when pressed does not zero the odometer reading, I know that these often fail, can it be repaired or is it better to buy a new button from Porsche at probably an extortionate price?

The knob itself just pushes a lever inside .. which will close a contact and reset it .. replaceing the knob .. unless its broken i dont think it will solve the fault.

To me its more likely to be internal rather than the knob itself .

New button fitted and now working.

i stand corrected :thumb: :)

From what I've read it's a common problem and either a repair to the old one ore replacement usually sorts it.
