Warranty issue

I bought my 2012 991 back in 2015. I extended the warranty.

The car is currently with the local OPC (I'm based in Herts) , there was an issue with the tracker which they are repairing under warranty.

The have highlighted two extra issues.

"Both seat backs tilting past end stops too far and broken stop tabs on seat backs. passenger seat trims damage also, trims on join fro seta back and base.To rectify would require both seat backs replacing by specialist seat repair and new passenger seat trims."

The seats have always done this. I bought the car from Glasgow OPC , i viewed it online and had it delivered. It was my first 911 so I was unaware how far forward the seats should tilt and as they both tilt the same amount forward I thought it was normal and the stops were not broken- As it's been 4 years do I bring this up with Glasgow or try and force a warranty fix? If it fixable under warranty - the OPC doesn't seem to think so?

There are slight leaks on the air con condensers which are being fixed under warranty.

However this was noted

"Signs of water ingress/moisture inside cabin and also in front tub storage compartment. advise further diagnosis and advise possibly not warranty item."

I assumed the internal moisture (lots of water in the inside windscreen) could be due to the fact the car can often go weeks without driving and we have had extreme highs and lows recently coupled with now knowing the air con condensers have a leak- however that doesn't explain the moisture in the front tub.

Isn't this something the warranty should cover too?

Thanks

Difficult to advise without seeing the car ..

Seat backs then they need to explain what you have done that has caused this fault .. if it isnt warrenty then they are saying you have caused the problem and its not a material or manufacturing fault .

Water ingress .. again the same applys .. if its not a defect then what have you done that has caused this so as it not to be deemed as warrenty .

Front tub and inside the car are two totally seperate issues .

You will never get water on the inside of the windscreen on these cars without there being a water leak (water ingress ) to the car.

I will say .. with my experience .. the customers that shout the most .. the people that complain to customer services get the best offer .. the quiet guys .. they dont .. kinda ashamed to say that but thats my impression after many years at an OPC .

At the end of the day .. Warrenty is a Material or a manufacturing defect .. it is not for external damage .. a stone hitting an a/c condensor .. its not for you shutting something in the boot that has damaged a seal .. it is for a defect .

And as such it either is or isnt warrenty .

Im kinda sticking up for Porsche and for you here .. but i cant see the car so its a general assessment .

deMort thanks for your reply.

I've experienced exactly what you have said. When I called the OPC on Monday they said the early they could book my car for a repair was 6 weeks away.

Even when I stressed that with the Tracker not working properly it could invalidate my Insurance

The lady still booked it in and said there was nothing that could be done. I said fine book it but at the same time I want to raise a complaint and asked if the sale of the warranty was regulated by the FCA as I felt I had been misold

lo and behold they sent someone round that afternoon to pick up the car and trailer back to the OPC.

The siren is out of stock and will not get to the OPC till mid April - I am waiting to hear back from them regarding a courtesy car.

I am not happy about the water ingress or the seat back stops so will kick up a stink and see how far i get.

I will do as you have said and ask them to demonstrate what I could have done to cause the damage.

It is a shame it has to come to this ..

You have just demonstraited what happens when you start to complain .. its just wrong.

You can see why Indys are makeing such big inroads into takeing OPC,s business away from them .

We are far from perfect but always try to treat the customer well and with consideration .
