I can see 2 reasons for doing this:

1 - Anti-theft device. Drop it to the floor so it can't be driven off. (Not sure this would be great for the underside)

2 - Anti-clamping device..Park in an unauthorised car-park that clamps and drop it to the floor...clamp that clamping nazi's!
 
Done digitally, never seen a suspension setup that deforms the car. See how the shape changes as the video jumps back!
