Winter wheels and tyres...

What are the correct sizes for winter wheels for a 997.2 C4S?

As per my other thread, my searching chi is below par at the moment so at the risk of annoying people I thought I'd ask!

Won't necessary be putting a lot of winter miles on the car, but love driving it some would rather not be precluded...and the thought of 305 section rears etc on snow isn't appealing. Nor is screwing up the alloys that came with the car.

You can get some wheels and Winter tyres on eBay. Rears won't be much smaller than those you currently have.

Thanks guys.

My skills came back a little and I did find similar links...

Rears I've seen 265 and 295 cross section mentioned...does anyone run either?

I think they're also typically smaller diameter?

I have a set of Lobster Claws that I use as winter wheels on the 997.1 Turbo, I expect the 4S is the same wheel size.

Mine are:
8x19 ET57 with 235/35R19
and
11x19 ET51 with 295/30R19

The winter tyres make a huge difference in the colder weeks/months.

Just fitted my winters on the turbo;
235 40 18's
295 35 18's
So much nicer ride than the 19's.

I'm running the stock 19" rims with 235 and 295 Nokians on my C4S. It turned out to be easier to source the tyres in 19" than 18s.

265 on a 996 and 295 on a 997 are the recommended rears so you will want the latter.

I have 295s on the winters for my GT3 (I have the OE winter set, sourced for a nice price a few years back from eBay). Note though that particularly the rears wear down quicker than just about anything else, so don't put them on until you actually need them. :thumb:

265 is a 997 size, just not for the AWD cars.

Thanks - do you have pictures of the wheels on the car?

295's on the rear of my C4S, barely notices the 10mm difference from the summers. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

I am running 235 front and 265 rear on 18s on the 997 c2s. Summer is 235 and 296

Put some 15mm spacers on the rear to push out as the rims looked lost in the arches

More than enough grip at the rear and a lot more than the summers which were those awful Bridgestone ones with 3mm tread!!

Car rides so much better on 18s and with bigger sidewalls. They are a lot lighter than the 19s!!

I've got 235 and 295 Nokian HKPL7 winters mounted on Carrera Sports

The wheels are nice (diamond cut outer rings, GT silver spokes) but sadly they suffer a bit in the winter... I might be better off running the fully painted OZs in winter and these in the summer. :dont know:

The bike is my son's road bike but it's not running winters yet (as they're still in the shed). :what:
