Hi Guys, ive blown my gen 1 3.8 S so bought a gen 2 3.8 S engine, gearbox, exhaust system, ecu and wiring loom, mechanical bits all done but im struggling with the wiring, with the harnesses and the pinouts, would anybody have any information on it or possibly any drawings

Thanks Ross

Although I can't help at all, great work on shoe horning that bad boy in. From memory, I believe you've done the hard part already as it's not a straight swap from all accounts.
Good luck with finishing this off :thumb:

Given the change to the DFI engine you might well find that comms with other systems such as instruments are different too. I would also expect the fuel system to be very different due to the higher pressures in the DFI engine. It sounds like a big project to me.
Can I ask why you are going this route? Surely getting a replacement .1 engine would have been massively cheaper and easier.

MisterCorn asked "Can I ask why you are going this route"? Surely the answer is the Gen1 engines are *****. If you have to replace an engine, get one that won't let you down. Eve Hartech engines have IMS.

Cant help with the wiring , sounds like a great project . If you do hit any snags when trying to get the instruments communicating let me know as one of the guys down here is putting an LS3 engine in his Porsche and has sent the car to a specialist to get everything talking ,I can get the info if you hit a snag. :thumb:

Bingo!!! Phil you could do this the other way round, take the Cadbury gen2 engine out of yours and fit the more reliable and trouble free gen 1.

Winner :thumb:

:floor: :floor: :floor: I know ,I didnt want to say anything about having had a gen1 for 4.5 years done 50k miles sold it on 90k no issues at all, brought a gen2 had it 18months replaced the air con pipes the clutch the flywheel had the gearbox rebuild and its now at Hartech for an engine rebuild all in 18 months and 12k miles FFS . So I am the last person to say the gen1 engine is crap and the gen2 reliable  so IMO the gen2 is not only chocolate but liquid chocolate

That would be my concerns as well ..

Low pressure pump should work ok but both pressure outputs would need to be checked .. high pressure on the DFI will take over after that if similar which i think they are..

The coms with all the control units with the DME is my and MC,s concern .. we both feel it just wont communicate .. but as i have never attempted this i cant say for sure .. but i am worryed .

I have a gen 1 wiring diagram i can send you but not a gen 2 .. thats on the Piwis / PPN and not something i can help with ... let me know if you want it .
